Charter School Makes History!
By: My Little Angel
Greenville Tech Charter High School made history on Thursday 9th 2010. Principle Mr. W. Fred Crawford walked into the newspaper room to congratulate the students on the school winning the National Blue Ribbon School Award, but what is this award? It is a prestigious award that is only given to 5 schools in each state. To receive this award you must reach two criteria’s. The school has at least 40% of the students from disadvantaged backgrounds and show dramatic improvement in test scores. Also they must be in the top 10% of all schools in the state which we have surpassed. Along with the award our school gets national recognition, a Blue Ribbon flag, and a plaque to recognize our achievement. Everyone is excited about winning the award. When asked “how do you feel about being the first charter school to become a Blue Ribbon School?” Sam Myers, a sophomore at the school said, “I am pumped!” Mrs. Crank, a History teacher at the school, said, “It is about time that we are starting to be recognized not only in state, but nationally!” To celebrate our achievement the school is throwing a party at the student center. Ryan Colker, another writer from newspaper, says “I am really excited for the party Friday.” “Hopefully they will have chocolate cake.” Said Cannon, a Junior and a writer at the school, as we discussed the party. Until next time this is My Little Angel with The Warrior Way saying be safe and goodnight.
